All are welcome! This is a free event.

The Colorado chapter of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship is cosponsoring this meeting along with the Richard Hooker Forum (RHF), Integrity and Jubilee Ministries.

The discussion will include topics of interest to Integrity and is an opportunity to thank Bishop O'Neill for laying out a discernment process that allows congregations wishing to do so to offer same gender blessings to their gay and lesbians members in committed, lifelong relationships. Two such blessings have taken place at St Andrew's in Denver and one is expected next month at St Paul's in Ft Collins. Several other churches have entered the discernment process.

The RHF and cosponsors are in the process of formulating additional topics to be considered at the town hall meeting; one will be in support of Hispanic ministry. Others will likely relate to the upcoming General Convention in Indianapolis. There will be an opportunity for questions from the floor.

What do you want to ask the bishop?

Theme: Forgiveness

We will watch
Amish Grace and hold a casual discussion after.

"The peaceful Amish community of Nickel Mines is forever changed when a gunman senselessly takes the lives of five girls in a schoolhouse shooting before taking his own life. What transpires afterward takes the community by storm, as the media descend on the town and criticize its Amish leaders for their notion of unconditional forgiveness of the shooter and their outreach of support to his widow, Amy Roberts (Tammy Blanchard). Devastated by her daughter's death, Ida Graber (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) finds herself struggling with her community's belief in the transcending power of forgiveness. Deeply conflicted and unable to forgive the gunman and his family, Ida is tempted to leave the only life she's ever known before re-embracing her faith."

Amish Grace website

We plan to read Free of Charge: Giving and Forgiving in a Culture Stripped of Grace by Miroslav Volf but please join us whether or not you read the book.

"We are at our human best when we give and forgive. But we live in a world in which it makes little sense to do either one. In our increasingly graceless culture, where can we find the motivation to give? And how do we learn to forgive when forgiving seems counterintuitive or even futile? A deeply personal yet profoundly thoughtful book, Free of Charge explores these questions -- and the further questions to which they give rise -- in light of God's generosity and Christ's sacrifice for us. . . . 'Miroslav Volf, one of the most celebrated theologians of our day, offers us a unique interweaving of intense reflection, vivid and painfully personal stories and sheer celebration of the giving God ... I cannot remember having read a better account of what it means to say that Jesus suffered for us in our place.' - Dr Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury" (from Amazon.com)

Afterward, we'll hold a casual discussion. Popcorn and drinks served!
